Description

Job Summary:
The transporter is responsible for assisting patients to pre-op for surgery and Endoscopy; also for transporting! these patients out via wheelchair at time of discharge. The transporter will assist in restocking of patient areas as needed. Assist the nursing staff in the delivery of safe patient care.

Essential Duties:
Selects and prepares appropriate supplies for GI procedures.

Safely transports patients to private vehicles at time of discharge.

Assist nursing staff of OR/GI with efficiency of patient turnover.

Restock linen carts and blanket warmers as needed throughout the day.

Good telephone and communication skills.

Knowledge of the use and care of vital sign machine, datascope monitors, computers and fax/copy machine.

Transport specimens to designated pick-up area.

End of the day: collect all soiled and used supplies and take to decontamination area, take soiled trash, hazardous waste, and linens to line/trash room and restock all the patient area, put away all extra supplies.

Maintains working status of instruments and equipment; ascertain that broken and/or missing instruments are properly repaired or replaced.

Observes cost containment practices; evaluates and maintains appropriate inventory levels

Respects and complies with decisions made by the Administrator/Facility manager and Management; communicates with others in a direct, respectful and effective manner; will treat customers with actions that exemplify high levels of customer service.

Will address and respond to all complaints in a timely manner; will notify Administrator or Management of any physician or patient complaints.

Will participate in the QI plan by tracking any data in accordance with established guidelines.

Actively participates in staff meetings and in-services and professional organizations.

Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma or GED

ACLS Advance Cardiac Life Supp! ort is preferred.

BLS - CPR from American Heart Association is preferred.

Experience:
1 year hospital experience is preferred.
