FACULTY POSITION in BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERINGVANDERBILT UNIVERSITYThe Department of Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University (VUBME) invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position. VUBME seeks an outstanding candidate who can add to existing strengths in translational research working at the interface between surgery and engineering. Candidates with strengths in interventional medical imaging, intraoperative diagnostics for surgery, and surgical devices/systems for therapy delivery are of particular interest. Outstanding candidates who can join established strengths in regenerative nanobioengineering, microphysiological systems engineering, biomedical photonics, and medical imaging will also be considered.
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to develop a vibrant, externally funded research program, along with an equal commitment to outstanding teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. This opportunity is part of an interdisciplinary Vanderbilt research thrust in â Medicine and Healthâ and leverages a new building, integrating engineering and medicine at a granular level, projected for occupancy in summer 2015.VUBME (www.bme.vanderbilt.edu) exists at both the scientific and geographic boundary of Vanderbiltâ s engineering and clinical departments of its renowned medical center, making it an ideal location for engineering research at the interface of technology and surgical medicine. In close association with VUBME is the Vanderbilt Initiative in Surgery and Engineering (ViSE: www.vanderbilt.edu/vise), which is a comprehensive research center that consists of core faculty spanning three engineering departments and nearly a dozen surgical and interventional specialties. ViSE offers multi-scale device fabrication facilities and an extensive array of unique intraoperative instrumentation to include spatial localization systems, imaging devices, and medical robotic prototypes.
