Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Coordinate surgery schedule with patient, physician and operating room.
Consult with patient presenting time and day availability and coordinate time with physician and operating rooms.
Arrange and schedule pre-operative test for patient.
Give patient detailed information regarding dates, time scheduled and necessary instructions, as directed by physicians.
Contact patient to remind of post-operative instructions, as directed by physicians.
Maintains operating room schedule.
Verify patient eligibility and coverage for procedure and obtain precertifications.
Obtain precertification or proper insurance approval prior to surgical procedures.
Notify and forward paperwork for insurance certification to Billing Offi! ce and obtain additional paperwork if needed for compliance.
Responds to written and telephone inquiries from carriers regarding surgeries.
Posts all surgical charges for procedures into system.
Counsels patients regarding potential financial obligations and obtains information about patient insurance coverage.
Perform clerical duties to support the surgery scheduling function.
Provide support and necessary information to physicians regarding scheduling and patient information.
Receive and screen calls relating to problems that may arise due to date changes and any reasons for cancellation.
Forward paperwork to secretaries to place on appropriate doctor's calendar.
Contact appropriate sources for emergency surgeries in a timely and efficient manner.

Medical office terminology
Familiar with StarPanel and EPIC
Detail-orient! ed
Outstanding customer service skills
Works well under pressure and able to get the job done
Efficient with patient flow and working in high volume environment

Must be able to multi-task
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position (40 hours per week).
Scheduled hours are typically 8:00am - 5:00pm; Monday - Friday; however, additional hours may be needed as business dictates.
Hourly rate is dependent upon education and experience.
Background screens will be performed and education will be verified prior to employment. Please be prepared to provide required information and/or documentation.

Basic Qualifications
This position requires a High school graduate or GED and 4 years of experience or the equivalent.
