Provides professiona l nursing care to patients within assigned unit/area utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement! and evaluate medical , surgical or orthopedic patient care.
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved nursing school/program. Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the school-age, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates.
EXPERIENCE: Experience i n patient care as obta ined through comp letion of an approved nurs ing
program. An ability and willingness to apply n ursing knowledge and skills and mainta in clinical
competency as required in assigned medical-surgical unit (Must satisfactorily complete applicable Medicine/Surgery, Sickle Cell or Forensic required training within three (3) months of assignment to unit). Demonstrates sk ill in the use of applicable equipment ; mature judgment and initiative requ ired; is able to work w ithout direct superv ision; shows professional inte rest through self-de velopment, co ntinuing edu cation , and i nvo! lvement i n profess ional organizat ions ; presents a pos itiv! e attitude a nd professional appearance . Ab ility to give and f ollow written and o ral instructions ; ability to c ommunicate effect ively with others ; ability to r eact and perfor m u nder st ress in emergency s ituations; ab il i ty t o effect ively recor d and reflect observations ; abi lity t o plan and orga nize wor k for self and others ; ab ility to exercis e analytica l j udgment on work to be done .
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Reg istered Nu rse l icensure t o work i n s tate of TN . Cur rent CPR
certi fication r equired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Prolonged standing and walking ; lifting , turning patients and eq uipment ;
repeated bending , squatting and stoop ing ; exposure to infectious agents . Ab ility to conduct
physical rounds to nursing/pa tient care uni ts requi red. Visual acuity is needed to assess color
changes , to ve rify accuracy of wr itten materials , and to administer and accurately prepa re
medications . Heavy W! o rk - Exe rting up to 150 pounds of fo rce occas ionally, and/o r u p to 75
pound s o f force freque ntly , and/or up t o 30 pounds of force constantly to move ob jects . (May be
furthe r defined as "with or without assistance.")
Graduation from Approved/Accredited Nursing School
CPR Certification Required
TN State RN Licensure Required
