Assesses compliance with all regulations of federal and state agencies and third part! y payors. Directly supervises staff and ensures quality standards of unit are met.
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Supervises staff and workflow
Provides guidance and training to staff
Provides performance feedback and conducts performance evaluations for staff
Ensures adherence to policies and procedures
Provides performance counseling to staff if necessary to ensure performance meets standards
Ensures adequate staffing
Monitors leave and overtime usage to ensure within accepted guidelines for effective operation of unit
Conducts quality analysis of coding and/or abstracting of staff
reviews coding for accuracy
ensures documentation is complete and meets regulations
investigates, evaluates and identifies opportunities for improvement
serves as a resource to staff, physicians, and other departments for coding related issues
Produces report! s for analysis of trends/patterns
develops queries as! a planning and management tool
analyzes data to determines patterns of denials/errors, provides analysis to management with feedback and recommendations for process improvement
Develops policies and procedures to ensure quality standards for unit are met
reviews process flow and recommends improvements
ensures compliance with regulatory bodies are met
May assist in preparation and projections for department budgets needs and analysis
Compile and analysis data in support of budgetary projections as requested
Basic Qualifications
Job requires Graduate of an accredited discipline specific program and 5 years of experience or the equivalent.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):
Records Health Info Tech, Registered Records Administrator, Certified Coding Specialist, Certified Procedural Coder
