More details about this occupation opportunity please read the description below. Dept. of Large Animal Clinical Sciences is seeking applicants for a Veterinary Surgery Technician position. Must be a graduate of an AVMA ac! credited veterinary technology training program and obtain a license in Tennessee within one year of starting employment. Previous experience in the handling and management of large animals is required, however applications from new graduates will be considered. The technician will assist in teaching and supervision of students the skills required to care for equine patients and to perform procedures on patients, teaching and research animals. The technician may assist in the operation of the new Equine Performance and Rehabilitation Center. The technician will be a member of a comprehensive team that provides care to all large animal patients and may be asked to assist in other areas. Some lifting and manipulation of equipment and/or animals is required. Candidate must be capable of standing for prolonged periods of time and some physical activity will be required. All technicians provide medical, surgical, anesthetic, nursing care as needed and assist in performing specia! lized diagnostic procedures for large animal patients, and fee! entry and inventory control. Salary is commensurate with training and experience.
