Summary:
The Surgical Technologist will facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
Responsibilities:
Prepares delivery cart with appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies
Attends deliveries and hands required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery
Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients
Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.
Education & Experience:
Completion of a program for surgical technology accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEPP) or completion of training program for surgical technologists in the armed forces (army, navy, air force, marine corps, coast guard, or public health service of the United States) or at a CAAHEP accredited hospital or CAAHEP accredited ambulatory surgical treatment center program and successfully complete the surgical technologists LCC-ST certifying exam.
Note - According to the grandfather clause in Tenn. Code Annotated 68-57-102(a), an individual may be employed as a surgical technologists upon providing evidence that they began training to be a surgical technologists before July 1, 2006, or may be employed as a surgical technologists if they were employed as a surgical technologist for not less than eighteen (18) months in a hospital, medical office, surgery center, or school prior to July 1, 2006, regardless of the length of time that may have elapsed since such employment, provided the person complies with the continued competency requirements.
Licenses & Certifications:
Cert Surgical Technologist Renewal Required,Primary Source Required, Current LPN or national certification (established by the Liaison Council onb Certification for Surgical Technologist -; LCC-ST. Note - See the grandfather clause in Tenn. Code Annotated 68-57-102(a).
Healthcare Professional Preferred,Renewal Required,Primary Source Required, AHA - Healthcare Provider Required. National Sterile Processing Certification preferred.
