Our nationally ranked facility in West TN is currently seeking experienced MT/MLT for our Laboratory. Multiple shifts are currently available. Located 45 miles west of Nashville, our 139-bed acute medical/surgical facility provides the following services to the surrounding counties: Family Birthing Unit, Outpatient Surgery, Physical Therapy, state-of-the-art Heart Center, 24-hour Emergency Department, Generations Program for senior adults, and radiology services. This position will contribute to our facility’s reputation for providing sophisticated technology and state-of-the-art medical services combined with compassionate care to our patients.
Responsibilities: 1. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served. 2. Specimen processing, assuring specimens are reviewed before analysis, has proper identification, and meet criteria for testing. 3. Performs test(s) on patient specimens, evaluates test results, and report/enters/verifies test results. 4. Critical analysis skills regarding appropriateness of test results. 5. Troubleshoots all instruments 6. Understands Quality Control, quality improvement, documentation of records.
Department Specific Criteria: 1. Analysis of various body fluids relating to the fields of chemistry, serology, toxicology, urinalysis, coagulation, blood gases, special chemistry, and therapeutic drug monitoring to aid in the diagnosis of certain disease states.
2. Microscopic analysis of human cells relating to the fields of hematology and clinical microscopy to aid in the diagnosis of certain disease states.
3.Analysis of human blood relating to the field of immunohematology to provide adequate blood supply to the community and to aid in the diagnosis of certain disease states
4.Analysis of human sites of infection to identify pathogenic organisms relating to the fields of microbiology, mycology, mycobacteriology, virology, and parasitology to aid in the diagnosis of infectious disease states.
5. Performance of Quality Control, maintenance, and trouble shooting of all analyzers and testing methodologies to insure quality of laboratory results.
6.Computer entry - Registration and accessioning of patients in the LIS Laboratory Information System and Resulting and Verifying said results in the LIS. (Meditech).
7. Communicates proper knowledge of test results to physicians, nurses, and clients (i.e. Panic values).
8. Review Outstanding Specimen Reports for each department for each shift.
9. Perform phlebotomies on patients to obtain proper samples for analysis. _____ Neonate _____ Pediatric _____ Adolescent ____ Adult _____ Geriatric
10. Answer incoming calls from clients, physicians, and nursing staff.
11. Assists in maintaining supply inventory, ordering, etc.
12. Assists in training new employees/students.
13. Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, Assoc. Degree or comparable to hold a TN State Medical Technologist, General License, Basic computer skills
