Position Description:
PURPOSE/SUMMARY (Brief overview of why job exists, general purpose for position)

Coordinate the launch of new products into manufacturing. Develop manufacturing processes and prototype components, including tooling, programming, machine set-up and process prove-out. Coordinate new product manufacturability and launch into production.
Optimize processes be they part manufacture or product flow. Develop capacity planning and facilities layout for equipment moves and additions using Lean Manufacturing principles.
Coordinate operator training for new and existing pr! ocesses, products, and equipment.
Coordinate and utilize e! xternal resources such as vendors and sister sites to resolve technical issues or improve processes or products. Write capital expenditure requests, gain approval, coordinate the purchase & installation of equipment, and track costs. Investigate, research, purchase, and implement new manufacturing technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List of 8 â€" 10 key tasks required of the job which occupy greater than 5% of the incumbents time)

Launch new products into manufacturing by establishing routings, bills of material, process specifications, and other associated requirements.
Coordinate cost improvement projects.
Review prints for new and existing products to determine accuracy and manufacturability.
Correspond with production teams, programmers, manufacturing supervisors, engineers and suppliers to develop new processes and to optimize existing processes.
Support the creation of bills of material and routings for new products. !
Determine manufacturing costs.
Conduct time studies to verify or establish process specifications.
Develop audits for process specifications and update as needed
Processes engineering changes (EC) and Material Review Board concessions( MRB) to facilitate process changes or implementation.
Create and maintain CNC programs.
Coordinate and supervise program prove-out including process validation and first article approval.
Manage set-up reduction projects to decrease work center downtime.
Procure capital equipment. This includes all phases from formulating requests for quotation for multiple vendors to final sign off of validation.
Conduct capacity planning and monitor capacity usage and availability.
Assist with facilities layout including equipment layouts and workplace design.
Support operations teams, and new product development teams.

This employee must foster good relationships with vendors, sister sites and R&D. He or! she will seek vendors who can become business partners and establish l! ong-term relationships. Additionally, this person should use the knowledge and equipment available at other Gyrus-ACMI sites and provide the same for them.

This employee will help bring new products to fruition by working with R&D from the initial stages of a product development (DR1) through implementation into Manufacturing. This should be done during the initial stages as a consultant and voice of the customer (Manufacturing being the internal customer of R&D's design), and in the final stages as someone who solicits R&D's opinion on product quality and validation criteria.

This person will need to prepare and present options for improvement to senior management, peers, operators, etc. He or she will ensure that supporting documentation is available. Furthermore, this employee will work with internal customers to understand, from the beginning, what is required to satisfy their needs and ultimately affect change. This person will be a professional repre! sentative of Manufacturing Engineering to other departments and sites.
Follow all quality systems and management procedures to insure Safety, GMP, ISO and FDA compliance.
Supports the manufacturing areas in times of urgent need.
Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements and Responsibilities:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with a minimum of five
years of manufacturing engineering related experience.
Experience in equipment procurement from quotation through acceptance. Hands on
experience in setting up, operating and developing standard operating procedures for
manufacturing processes.
Establishment of Preventative Maintenance Procedures
Lean Manufacturing
Technical writing: may include protocols, reports or validations
Project leadership
Time management experience that had enabled accomplishments on ! multiple projects
Unplanned production support to resolve urgent is! sues

Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Validation protocol writing, execution, supervision and reporting
Presentation skills
Supervision of a manufacturing operation
Experience in medical device manufacturing
Mechanical design of tools, fixtures and machines
Plant engineering experience with such things as: water systems, boilers,
compressors and HVAC.
Statistical Process Control
Process Capability Studies
6 sigma
Design of Experiments applied to process development or improvements
CNC Programming
Team Leadership
Member of Society of Manufacturing Engineers preferred.
