KEY REQUIREMENTS

U.S. Citizenship

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.

Must pass pre-employment examination.

DUTIES:
Functional Statement: Primary Care

Tour of Duty: Based on the needs of the Service.

The duties include providing primary care to Veteran patients in a multidisciplinary environment.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinate care for panel of outpatients as assigned by TVHS

Evaluate and treat acute and chronic health problems for scheduled and unscheduled patients in the clinic setting.

Perform histories and physical exams

Perform office procedures within privileges as appropriate.

Prescribe medications as appropriate.

Order routine laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests and provide initial interpretation of results.

Communicate test results.

Respond to questions and other inquiries from patients

Initiate or expedite requests for! consultations and special tests.

Provide education to the patient and family as necessary

Perform basic life support as necessary

Function as managing physician for a nurse practitioner or physician assistant as assigned by TVHS.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

·

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

·

Must be board certified or eligible.

Physical Requirements:
The work is mainly sedentary but requires some bending, walking, and standing for periods of time. The work requires working under stressful conditions in a fast-paced setting to facilitate patient care.
