Under the direction of the Business Office ! Manager, the Registrar gathers all demographic and insurance information needed to register the patient into the computer system and obtains all signatures needed for care of treatment and for conditions of admission.

Registrar collects co-payments, coinsurance, and deductibles from patients upon arrival for Surgery.

Registrar is cross-trained and assists with Reception, Insurance Verification, and Collections as needed. Performs various tasks as needed.

Essential Functions:
Prepare all forms completely and accurately prior to the arrival of all admission

Admits patient in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner according to procedures. Follow up on incomplete information until all forms nd the registration process is completed.

Gathers accurate and complete financial, insurance, and person demographic information

Registers the patient, produces forms, labels, arm band, etc with 98% accuracy.

Explain! s consent forms and obstains signatures.

Notifies nur! sing after registration is complete and processing paperwork to appropriate area timely.

Route all admission forms to the appropriate department.

Documents all problems or exceptions.

Verifies insurance and worker compensation when applicable.

Verifies all charts are accounted logged and completed accurately.

Maintains Emergency Department records.

Answers incoming calls courteously and promptly.

Maintains a neat organized work station.

Coordinates movement of patients.

Performs appropriately in crisis situations, relaying and obtaining information as needed.

Communicates with patients/families/visitors adn other customers in a professional manner.

Provides a team to team report

Reports complaints/occurrences following appropriate chain of command.

Qualifications

Education

:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
Experience:
Previous registration experience preferred

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Knowledge of healthcare insurance

Basic computer and keyboarding skills required

Bilingual helpful

License/Certification:
None
