Tour of Duty: M-F 8am-4:30pm
This position will be located at the Athens CBOC, Athens TN under our Primary Care Service Line at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System. The incumbent services as a practicing physician who is responsible for the overall management of patients enrolled for healthcare services provided by the Tennessee Valley Healthcare Systems. Responsible for administrative tasks associated with clinic operations, provides leadership and direction to support staff assigned to their team. The incumbent shall be proficient in all aspects of the general practice of Primary Care. Specifically, the provider should posse! ss the expertise and competency to perform but not limited to the following:
Coordinate care for a panel of outpatients as assigned.
Evaluate and treat acute and chronic health problems for scheduled and unscheduled patients in the clinic setting.
Perform histories and physical exams.
Provides appropriate documentation to minimally include history, physical exam findings, diagnosis, definitive care plan and disposition of the patient.
Ensures the patients are appropriately closed-out including disposition that clearly indicates the next steps of care.
Ensures that each patient is provided a list of current medications and an appointment list at close-out.
Peform office procedures contained within approved privileges.
Prescribe medications as appropriate
Order routine laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests and provide initial interpretation of results.
Communicate test results to! patients
Respond to questions and other inquiries from patien! ts.
Initiate and expedite requests for consultations and special tests.
Provide education to the patient and family as necessary.
Order immunizations and other preventive screenings.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the Distr! ict of Columbia.
- Must be board certified or eligible .

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary at times. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending for periods of time. The work requires working under stressfull conditions in a fast-paced setting to facilitate patient care.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
1. Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership! in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which ! the degree was granted.
2. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.
3. Schools (Including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
