Equal Opportunity EmployerThe surgical first assistant assists surgeon, under his/her direct supervision, during the procedure with positioning of the patient, retraction, skin suturing, tying, hemostasis and other first assistant skills. Ensures that the surgical suite is prepared according to surgeons preference cards with appropriate instruments, resources and supplies. Works collaboratively with other surgical team members to maintain / update physician preference cards. Anticipates and responds to surgeons needs in a timely manner. May perform sponge, sharps, and instrument count according to hospital policy and procedure. Works collaboratively to support cost containment processes and initiatives. Will assist the surgical team to expedite room turnover efficiently and effectively.
The ability to retrieve! , communicate and present data and information both verbally and in writing required; as is the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word. Education: Must hold actiive certification Experience: 1 - 3 year experience preferred.
