Emergency Medicine Job Details
The Emergency Department consists of seven critical treatment beds and six urgent treatment rooms. The ED is a level 3 trauma facility that serves 45,000 eligible veterans in the eastern portion of Tennessee. Patient workload varies significantly throughout the department depending on the shift and day of the week. Approximately 25,000-26,000 veterans triage into the Emergency Department annually. All patients triaged using the 5-tier category system, the standardized and nationally mandated Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Walk-in patients that have an assigned primary care provider and that do not require emergent care are treated in their respective clinics when appointments are available During non-clinic hours, the ED provides urgent care to eligible veteran patients as their condition requires
